This video provides an introduction to the video sequence "Yoga for Teens with Arthritis."

The “Yoga for Teens with Arthritis,” video was produced in 2011 by Amanda Feinstein, PhD, as part of a research program on pain relief for youth with Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis and was a collaboration between the Department of Pediatric Rheumatology at Emory University and the Department of Psychology at Georgia State University. Production of the film was funded by a grant awarded to Dr. Amanda Feinstein and Dr. Sampath Prahalad through the 2011/2012 Abbot Health Professional Graduate Student Preceptorship Award under the American College of Rheumatology Research and Education Foundation.

The yoga program displayed in the video is based on the Joint-Freeing SeriesTM by Mukunda Stiles and was adapted for adolescents with juvenile arthritis. The video contains movements for increasing range of motion in the joints and stretching/strengthening the muscles that support the joints. Although this video was created specifically for youth with arthritis, adolescents and adults with other pain conditions may also benefit from it.

Please talk with your physician or care team (e.g., physical or occupational therapist) to determine if this yoga sequence is appropriate for helping you before using this video.
